First Annual International Kid’s Living Free Conference

The First Annual International Kid's Living Free Conference will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, at the Franklin Full Life Assembly of God.

Hosted by Living Free and Child in the Midst, this conference will focus on training anyone interested in teaching children biblical principles that lay a solid foundation for a life free of life-controlling problems. The curriculum Insight Group, Empowering Kids for Life is an adaptation of the Living Free Insight Group for adults written by Dr. Jimmy Lee, Founder and President of Turning Point/Living Free.

The new children's Insight Group, Empowering Kids for Life, guides children in discovering the path to Christian character. In our current society, where the very fiber of morality seems to be decaying more and more rapidly, we believe it is vital to start teaching children these biblical truths at an early age.

Using the eight objectives from 2 Peter 1:3-11, the Empowering Kids for Life workbook will give children the tools they need to build their own "tower of power" to avoid life-controlling problems. The curriculum offers the fun of colorful characters like JC (Jesus Cares) Bulldog, Opie Peacock, Bonnie Bat and Olivia Ostrich, with the richness and power of God's Word. We believe God will work through this group to empower kids for life.

A denomination considering using the curriculum made these observations:

Empowering Kids for Life is a well done curriculum that could serve either in a small group or Sunday school setting. Its use of the puppet, Liberty, and characters like JC the bulldog make it entertaining to follow, but the lessons and topics it covers are relevant and substantial. It uses a wide variety of stories, illustrations and activities to lead the students through Scripture and become more aware of who they are personally and in Christ.

Speakers will include: Tom and Lois Lofton - Coordinators of Kid's Living Free Serving as directors of Child in the Midst, the Loftons bring over 20 years of missions experience to their current assignment. From inner-city Philadelphia to Prague, Czech Republic, their ministry has included street evangelism, Teen Challenge, Turning Point, church planting and children's ministries. Jean Brunson - Jean Brunson adapted the Living Free Insight Group for children. Jean has served Central Church in Memphis, Tennessee, in the area of pastoral counseling for over ten years. She is the author of Growing Seasons, a Christ-centered support group for children dealing with death or divorce in families. Dan Strickland - Dan Strickland has served as Vice-President of Turning Point Ministries/Living Free since 1992. As well as participating in the day-to-day operation of the ministry, he trains churches across the country and overseas to implement Living Free groups.

The two day conference can be attended as a whole, or can be broken into a one-day, Saturday only segment.
