Successful Living Free ministry includes the following ingredients:

• The ministry must be Christ-centered. When participants place Christ at the center of their lives, the truth of God’s Word becomes relevant and transforming.

• The leaders and facilitators must be dependent upon the Holy Spirit. With the many and often needed helps available, it is important to remember that the Holy Spirit is our counselor, teacher, and guide. Our goal is to see people set free and dependent on Christ, not dependent on an individual or a group.

• There must be passionate and visionary leadership, which is outward rather than inward focused. Without passion, it is unlikely that the ministry to the hurting will be effective, especially long-term.

• The leaders and facilitators must understand that all of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. This is not an us versus them, but it is us. The Prophet Isaiah wrote, “Woe to me! I cried, ‘I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips,…’ ” (Isaiah 6:5 NIV).

• The Word of God, the Spirit of God, and the People of God work together. Focused on God’s Word and empowered by His Spirit, we as leaders are accountable to God’s people in the body of believers, in a small group, and in other ministries of the church. We must also emphasize the importance of the pulpit ministry where God’s Word is proclaimed.
