| Freedom at the Cross and Power in the Resurrection | |

As we remember the final events that preceded Jesus’ death and resurrection, please take time to reflect on what Jesus provided at the cross and what God did in the resurrection of Jesus. There was pain and agony on Jesus’ face, but his thoughts were toward us. We needed a savior and a sacrifice for our sins and Jesus took on all past, present, and future sins and created a way in which all of humanity can have a right relationship with God the Father.
Accepting the grace and forgiveness that the cross provided is the beginning of our spiritual journey and realization that we can live free from the bondages of sin and death. According to Paul in Romans 8:11, “It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s.” MSG
Salvation gives us entrance into our heavenly home, and the same power that raised Jesus from the dead gives us the ability to overcome life’s challenges. To live free from those things that so easily become life-controlling problems requires our acceptance of God’s Word as truth, reliance on God’s Holy Spirit to guide us, and dependence on our fellow believers in Christ. This is what takes place in the Living Free small group.
