Handling Loss: God Makes It Possible

Handling Loss and Grief

Living Free Every Day

Today's Scripture
"For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." Phillipians 4:13 NLT

Thoughts for Today
The Bible is filled with scriptures that help us understand the reality of death and guide us toward comfort and healing when we suffer the loss of a loved one.

God promises us that nothing can separate us from his love (Romans 8:38-39). No matter what trauma we suffer or how painful the loss, God's love is still with us. And his love is a love of strength, comfort, healing, and hope.

We know that life is not always easy, but with him it is always possible. Possible to sense his love and take comfort in it. Possible to receive his strength. Possible to experience healing from the hurt. Possible to have hope for tomorrow. Possible to move on.

Consider this …
If you have lost a loved one, be encouraged to look up. God invites you to enter his presence and call on him in every time of need. Trust him to help you through this time. Trust him to love you no matter what. Trust him to help you enjoy memories of the past, give you strength for the challenges of the present and fill you with hope for the future.

Take time to read his words of comfort and strength in the Bible. God loves you. He cares. And he is able.

Prayer
Father, thank you for your love, your comfort, and your strength. This time of loss and pain is so difficult for me, but I know that with you, it is possible. In Jesus name…

These thoughts were drawn from …

Handling Loss and Grief: How to Face Losses in Life and Grieve Christianly by Raymond T. Brock, Ed.D. As a person goes through this group they will be able to identify what the Bible has to say about handling the losses of life. To grieve is human; how to grieve Christianly is supernatural. It requires us to invite the Holy Spirit to guide us through the grieving process. This study also provides guidance in the use of Scripture to help the grieving. It offers biblical coping methods for facing loss and comfort to those who have faced loss.

  • 2013 Living Free Outcomes Results

We are excited to announce the 2013 Living Free Outcomes Research Findings. Over the last three years, we have collected questionnaires from participants in several different ministries in many different states. This year we gathered the questionnaires from 5 different ministries who are reaching out to their communities through non-residential support group settings in 5 states. There were 181 people in 22 different groups represented.

The data confirms the effectiveness of Living Free because of what God is doing through His Word, His Spirit and His people. The data reflects that no matter the location or facilitator, lives are being transformed and families restored by God through many local Living Free and Living Free Community ministries. We give God all the glory!

  • Testimony from Rwanda

God does heal the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Read the following testimony we received today regarding today's Living Free Every Day devotion provided by Living Free ministries.

"Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Thank you so much for the message of forgiveness. Jesus Christ recommend us to forgive if we want to be forgiven. For us Rwandans, we are experiencing forgiveness and now we are free from the bondage of unforgiveness. When you forgive, even physically, you are released. I am telling you this because I have forgiven those who killed my parents and relatives. But, ask to be led by the Holy Spirit who will enable you to forgive those who sin against you."

    Blessings,

    Jean de Dieu
